What Place processes

Place lets you discover and save places, plan today's stops, and add your own place photos privately or publicly. You choose photos in Place or send selected photos from the Photos share menu. Place reads their recorded location and date on your device. A photo without recorded location cannot be posted; shared drafts remain on your device until you review them in Place.

Before upload, Place re-encodes the image and removes embedded metadata. It sends the image, photo date if available, an approximate map position, your chosen audience and an anonymous account identifier to Firebase. Exact coordinates from the original file are not uploaded: coordinates are snapped to a 0.0025-degree grid. Grid size varies with latitude; an approximate position can still identify a place. Visible signs and landmarks in a photo can also reveal a location.

The app keeps selected, re-encoded photos and a local map/list cache on your device. It does not change or delete originals in your photo library. It does not request continuous device-location tracking.

Nearby places, saved places and routes

After you agree to the photo-location notice, Place can keep the photo's recorded coordinates in its private on-device storage. These coordinates are not uploaded to Place. Existing shared photos continue to show approximate areas. A recorded point may have GPS errors or differ from a public entrance; it does not verify that anyone visited a place.

If you choose to use your current location and grant permission, Place requests it while you are using the app to show nearby photos and approximate straight-line distances. This current-position value is held for the session, not saved in your Place account or uploaded to Place. You can browse without granting location access. Saved-place choices, today's stop order and manually marked visits are stored on this device; Place does not automatically track visits or upload a travel history.

When you explicitly request walking routes, Place sends the selected stop coordinates and your chosen starting point to Apple's mapping service. If you choose to start from your current location, that position is included. Opening a place or route in Apple Maps or Google Maps sends the selected coordinates to that provider. This may include the recorded photo coordinates held on your device. The selected map app or website may process additional information under its own permissions and privacy policy. Photos are not sent with these map links. Routes may be unavailable, and a route does not establish that a location is safe or publicly accessible.

Accounts and audiences

Firebase Authentication creates a guest account so Place can associate posts and private photos with you. No name, email address or Facebook login is required by the app. A guest account cannot be recovered if its sign-in credentials are lost.

Public posts are visible to other signed-in Place users. “Only me” restricts access to your account; it does not mean on-device-only storage. Both audiences use cloud storage and automated safety checks. Changing an audience may take time. Until the server confirms the change, the existing audience may still apply. People may retain copies of material they previously saw publicly.

Safety and service providers

Google Cloud Vision checks uploaded images for unsafe content, people and place scenes. This also applies to “Only me” photos. Place does not use face recognition to identify people. Detected faces or people are grounds for rejection. Automated checks can make mistakes, and uncertain photos are not published. Reports contain a reporter identifier, the reported post/author and the selected reason; block preferences contain the blocked author identifier.

Firebase and Google Cloud provide authentication, databases, image storage, hosting and processing. The Place database and functions use the Seoul region; provider-operated processing and infrastructure may involve other regions. Providers also process technical information needed to operate and secure their services, such as network addresses, request information and device/app integrity signals. Place does not sell photos or use them for advertising, and does not add advertising trackers or an analytics SDK to the app.

Deletion and retention

• In a post’s details, choose Delete post. Place keeps a pending indicator until the server confirms cleanup. A failed or interrupted request can be checked again.
• To delete the guest account and its associated Place data, open My places → Settings → Delete account. Posting is paused during deletion. Place confirms completion only after server data and the account have been removed; keep the app’s local data until confirmation so it can check the receipt. If processing fails, use Check status or contact support.
• Active posts, drafts and block preferences are kept until you delete them or the account, or they are removed for safety reasons. Account deletion also removes associated reports and action requests.
• Completed deletion status records contain only operational identifiers/status/timestamps, not photos. They expire after 30 days. Firestore TTL cleanup is asynchronous, so physical removal may occur later than the expiry time. Failed account requests remain available for retry rather than being marked complete.
• If a completion receipt has expired or cannot be checked, the app offers an explicitly confirmed local restart. This clears Place data from that device and creates a new guest account; it neither proves that cloud deletion finished nor cancels the cloud deletion request. Contact support if completion remains uncertain.
• Cloud image storage retains deleted objects as provider recovery copies for 7 days. These copies are inaccessible through Place. Quarantine objects left by incomplete processing are subject to a 7-day lifecycle cleanup, followed by the same recovery window. Cleanup scheduling can add delay. Place does not restore deleted images for normal app use.
• Firestore retains a short database version history of approximately one hour. Extended point-in-time recovery and scheduled database backups are not enabled for Place. Provider security and operational logs follow provider/service retention settings; we do not promise that deletion instantly removes every infrastructure log.
• If you contact support, your email and anything you choose to include are processed to respond to the request. Please do not send passwords, unrelated photos or sensitive personal information.

Your choices

You can choose what to upload, change a post’s audience, delete posts, block authors and delete your account in the app. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data or raise a privacy concern. Contact the address below. We may need enough information to verify a request, but cannot recover lost guest credentials. Place is not directed at children under 13. Do not upload photos of children or other people.

Place에서 사진을 고르거나 사진 앱의 공유 메뉴로 선택한 사진을 보낼 수 있습니다. 공유한 초안은 Place에서 위치와 공개 범위를 확인하기 전까지 게시되지 않습니다. 위치정보가 없는 사진은 게시할 수 없습니다.

촬영 위치 안내에 동의한 사진의 촬영 좌표는 기기의 비공개 저장소에 보관할 수 있으며 Place로 업로드하지 않습니다. 기존에 공유된 사진은 계속 대략적인 위치로 표시합니다. 사진의 좌표에는 GPS 오차가 있을 수 있고 공개된 입구와 다를 수 있으며, 실제 방문을 인증하는 정보가 아닙니다.

사용자가 내 위치 보기를 선택하고 권한을 허용하면 앱 사용 중 현재 위치를 요청해 주변 사진과 대략적인 직선거리를 보여줍니다. 현재 위치는 해당 실행 중에만 보관하며 Place 계정에 저장하거나 Place로 업로드하지 않습니다. 위치 권한 없이도 사진을 둘러볼 수 있습니다. 저장한 장소, 오늘 갈 곳의 순서와 사용자가 직접 표시한 방문 기록은 이 기기에 보관합니다. 방문을 자동 추적하거나 이동 기록을 업로드하지 않습니다.

사용자가 도보 경로 확인을 누르면 선택한 장소와 출발점의 좌표를 Apple 지도 서비스에 보냅니다. 내 위치에서 출발을 선택하면 현재 위치도 포함됩니다. Apple 지도 또는 Google 지도에서 장소나 경로를 열면 선택한 좌표가 해당 서비스에 전달되며, 기기에 보관한 사진의 촬영 좌표가 포함될 수 있습니다. 지도 링크에 사진은 첨부하지 않습니다. 외부 지도 앱이나 웹사이트는 자체 권한과 개인정보처리방침에 따라 추가 정보를 처리할 수 있습니다. 경로를 찾지 못할 수 있으며 경로가 표시된다고 안전이나 출입 가능 여부를 보장하지는 않습니다. Place는 Paran이 운영하는 장소 사진 지도 앱입니다. 사용자가 선택한 사진의 위치와 촬영일을 기기에서 읽습니다. 위치정보가 없는 사진은 추가할 수 없습니다. 업로드 전 이미지를 다시 인코딩하고 내장 메타데이터를 제거합니다. 원본의 정확한 좌표 대신 0.0025도 격자로 조정한 위치, 사진, 촬영일, 공개 범위, 익명 계정 식별자를 Firebase에 보냅니다. 격자의 실제 크기는 위도에 따라 다르며, 대략적인 위치나 사진 속 표지판으로도 장소가 드러날 수 있습니다.

앱은 게스트 계정을 사용하며 이름·이메일·Facebook 로그인을 요구하지 않습니다. 로그인 자격정보를 잃으면 게스트 계정을 복구할 수 없습니다. 공개 사진은 다른 로그인 사용자에게 보이고, 나만 보기 사진은 해당 계정만 접근할 수 있습니다. 나만 보기도 클라우드에 저장되며 Google Cloud Vision의 유해 콘텐츠·사람·장소 검사 대상입니다. 얼굴을 통해 개인의 신원을 식별하지 않습니다. 공개 범위는 서버 확인 전까지 이전 설정이 적용될 수 있고, 이미 공개된 사진을 다른 사람이 저장했을 수 있습니다.

Firebase·Google Cloud는 인증, 데이터베이스, 이미지 저장, 호스팅, 사진 검사를 제공합니다. 데이터베이스와 함수는 서울 리전을 사용하지만 제공업체의 처리 및 인프라는 다른 지역을 포함할 수 있습니다. 서비스 운영·보안을 위해 네트워크 주소, 요청 정보, 앱·기기 무결성 신호 등 기술정보도 처리됩니다. Place는 사진을 판매하거나 광고에 사용하지 않으며 광고 추적기·분석 SDK를 앱에 추가하지 않습니다. Apple 지도와 이메일 제공업체에는 각 업체의 방침이 적용됩니다.

사진 상세 화면에서 게시물을 삭제하거나 내 장소 → 설정 → 계정 삭제로 관련 데이터를 삭제할 수 있습니다. 서버에서 완료를 확인하기 전까지 삭제 대기 상태를 유지합니다. 앱을 다시 열어 상태를 확인할 수 있으며, 확인 전에는 앱 데이터를 지우지 마세요. 기기 사진 보관함의 원본은 삭제하지 않습니다.

사진·게시물·초안·차단 설정은 사용자가 삭제하거나 안전상의 이유로 제거될 때까지 보관합니다. 계정 삭제 시 관련 신고와 작업 요청도 삭제합니다. 완료된 삭제 기록은 사진 없이 작업 식별자·상태·시각만 포함하며 30일 후 만료됩니다. TTL 정리는 비동기이므로 실제 제거는 만료 후 이루어질 수 있습니다. 실패한 계정 삭제 요청은 재시도를 위해 남습니다.

삭제 확인 기록이 만료되었거나 확인할 수 없으면, 별도 확인을 거쳐 기기의 Place 데이터를 지우고 새 게스트 계정으로 다시 시작할 수 있습니다. 이는 클라우드 삭제 완료를 의미하지 않으며 서버 삭제 요청을 취소하지도 않습니다. 완료 여부가 불확실하면 문의해 주세요.

삭제된 클라우드 이미지는 복구용 저장소에 7일 동안 남아 있을 수 있으며 Place에서 접근할 수 없습니다. 처리가 끝나지 않은 격리 이미지는 7일 수명주기 정리 후 같은 복구 보존기간을 거칩니다. 정리 일정에 따라 지연될 수 있습니다. 데이터베이스의 짧은 버전 기록은 약 1시간이며 확장 시점 복구와 예약 백업은 활성화되어 있지 않습니다. 인프라 운영·보안 로그가 즉시 모두 사라지는 것은 아닙니다.

신고는 신고자·게시물·작성자 식별자와 사유를 포함하고, 차단 설정은 대상 작성자 식별자를 포함합니다. 문의 시 이메일과 사용자가 보낸 내용을 답변에 사용합니다. 비밀번호나 불필요한 민감정보는 보내지 마세요. 지역에 따라 개인정보 열람·정정·삭제 등의 권리가 있을 수 있으며 아래 주소로 문의할 수 있습니다. 요청 확인이 필요할 수 있으나 분실한 게스트 자격정보는 복구할 수 없습니다. Place는 13세 미만 아동을 대상으로 하지 않으며 아동이나 다른 사람의 사진을 올리면 안 됩니다.

For privacy requests, deletion problems, safety reports or appeals, include the app version and a brief description. Do not include your original photo’s exact location unless needed for your request.

Community rules

Share only place photos you have permission to use. People, faces, sexual or violent content, hate, harassment, illegal activity and spam are not allowed. Use the post menu to report content or block its author. Automated checks do not replace reviewing reports; contact support if you believe a decision is wrong.
